Okay heres the pictures......

Note the lack of spare body shells printed on the back as on the regular retail releases would be. Since these are a "Special Build" if you get the chance to buy spare shells do it now.

Buyers and Sellers !!! Its a common mistake to "assume" that all 6 frequency chips, spare tires, spare battery, spare suspension parts and as displayed on the back of the box are included in the box. THEY ARE NOT. Only this ONE SET of frequency chips included, car specific. The frequency set as displayed on the "Hobby Grade" page can be purchased seperately. Only ONE rechargable battery is included, NO spare tires either. Just the 4 on the car. Buying them seperately is the reason for this lower right hand area, as the "For ordering information" says.

Now that the car is removed from the outer brown carton and its specific display box, I will be adding notes and tips on what to look for and what works for me unpacking this Menards # 98 C.O.T. Nascar Rc car as safely as possible. There is a correct method to removing the car from the box. If anyone has better suggestions PLEASE send them in. DO NOT TOSS the styrofoam top and bottom shipping halves or the display box. These are handy for shipping the rc car for repairs or reselling the rc car, storing the car in your garage or storage units, moving or transporting the car to and from where you would race it at.

Note: Cars are shipped pretty well surrounded in stryofoam. After 368 cars bought and sold over 5 years, only 3 have come in actually damaged body shells. Even with other retailers and Amazon.com's shipping problems, I have never had a broken chassis or axles. It has only been the 3 body shells from Ebayers packing the interior of the display boxes with too many packing peanuts or too much newspaper or similar packing materials. They ship pretty well as is. So no need to do anything upon resales but tie the car down tight and leave it as it originally shipped.

Notice the assortment of items included. The car specific # 98 remote controller, which is designed after the airgun used on pitrow, "Band A" frequency chips for the transmitter, reciever on the chassis itself, battery, battery charger, 6 AA batteries, antenna tube for the car, telescoping antenna for the remote control transmitter. I should also note that the frequency "Band A" is also used on ALL Dale Earnhardt Sr. Hobby Grade cars. This frequency A is 26.995 mghz.

Note: taped to the battery charger cord is the tire / wheel tool for removing and replacing the tires /wheels.

Note: theres 2 frequency chips. No, one is not a spare, but one is for the transmitter, and one is for the chassis which is shown below and how to tell the difference if you cannot read the tiny stickers on these. You can choose to remove the tiny bag of frequency chips now or avoid loosing them until needed they can stay put. Again, Its a common mistake to "assume" that all 6 frequency chips as displayed on the back of the box are included in the box. THEY ARE NOT. Only this ONE SET, car specific. The frequency set as displayed on the "Hobby Grade" page can be purchased seperately.

Carefully cut the plastic tape ALL THE WAY around the 2 piece styrofoam shipping container....2 places on the front...one on each end and 2 places on the rear.

Using both hands lift off the top half of the styrofoam shipping container. Set this aside. We will start removing the car by removing the 6 body clips FIRST.

CAUTION: This is a step that I see alot of people MISS. Carefully remove the antenna thats taped to the passenger side of the car. (yes people have torn them off from the chassis more times than I care to mention) Either by sliding the antenna out from under the tape or remove the tape first. The glue residue can be cleaned up by using "Goo-Off" or zippo liquid lighter fluid. BE CAREFUL and do NOT splash it on the body, but put some on a rag or paper towel and gently wipe the residue away. The next 4 photos will show you the before and after of using "Goo-Off" and why to be carefull with this stuff. It WILL remove the lettering on the tires.

Before

After... heres how dangerous this "Goo-Off" is...2 pictures below

A few pictures of everything unpacked ready to remove the car itself.

Okay... Remove the body from front fender and rear of the car GENTLY.... and it may be necessary to wiggle the body a little here and there off the mounting pins. USE ALOT OF CARE here

Okay... now for ANOTHER step that I see done incorrectly. CAUTION: This is another important step that I see alot of people MISS. Okay... the correct way to do this is UNTIE the car. DO NOT cut the heavy gauge wires. Why not? because if you ever have to ship the car for repairs or if you sell it or move, you can re-tie the car back down for safe shipping. AFTER untieing each wire, FOLD THEM DOWN. Why?....If you don't the car will fall out of the bottom half of the styrofoam

Note: One wire untied and slightly folded down. This should be done with ALL 4 to prevent the car from falling out

With the bottom of the bottom half of the styrofoam shipping container NEXT TO you and it tilted TOWARD you the exposed car NO BODY SHELL on it...on the other side..AWAY from you....you can remove the wires.  If you have someone to help you then great, you wont have to worry about this

Lift the exposed chassis from the bottom half of the styrofoam shipping container as shown. I doubt anyone can get fingers into each front and rear bumpers, so this is the easiest way to lift it straight out without the body shell getting damaged

Okay... replace the body shell and the 6 body hold down clips....and viola! Now your halfway home.

Now, onto the transmitter and frequency chips...

From the back of the top piece of the styrofoam shipping container, the transmitter is wired down as well. You can easily untie this.

Shown above is the transmitter and the 2 frequency chips. Note they are different shapes. the one on the left, is flat topped and is for the receiver in chassis. The one on the right, the rounded flanged one is for the transmitter

Above shows the frequency chip being inserted on the left side of the transmitter. Dont forget to screw in the metal antenna into the top of this transmitter. Be gentle screwing this antenna in...brass threads WILL strip out very very easy. FINGER TIGHTEN ONLY !!!!

Above and below these pictures show where the flat topped frequency chip is installed. Be sure to to turn the lock down sliding tab on the chassis

One thing that alot of people Do, that YOU SHOULD NEVER DO is when operating this OR any other Rc car, DO NOT CROSS the antennas. DO NOT come within 6 feet of the Rc car itself with the transmitter ON. ALWAYS TURN OFF the transmitter when you approach the car or you will burn out the two chips and or the pc boards inside the car and or transmitter.

Be sure to CHARGE the battery for at LEAST 14 hours EACH TIME and discharge completely after each use. This is easy by blocking up the rear wheels and let the car run itself completely down. You can use a bread tie or the wire that held down the transmitter in the styrofoam to hold down the trigger on the transmitter, but again keep the transmitter at least 6 feet away. I have had the same batteries in two Rc cars for 4 1/2 years and never had a problem with running time, which is about 20-30 minutes, depending upon how many turns and doughnuts you do. If you follow this charge and discharge procedure, your battery or batteries will last a LONG TIME too

Coming Up Soon.... Battery insertion

The great folks ar Menards Special Order Center have really gone the extra step

What took me 4 years and STILL going on for Ebayers to ship safely and yet
2 years to do with Amazon.com, 7 months for Walmart, 10 months for Target
to get them to ship these cars correctly.....

YOU DONT SHIP A 19 lb 42 inch long box in a plastic bag...like amazon.com, Walmart, Target did and some Ebayers STILL do.... You do it right....

..........................................................................................................................

KUDOS TO:

Joshua Kildahl of Menards Inc...
for stepping up to the plate and emailing me a picture of HOW they are shipped out and BEFORE mine was shipped out.

After all of the other retailers and THEIR shipping problems these people took the time out for ONE CUSTOMER, WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY for one customer, made sure it was the way THE CUSTOMER wanted it.

Now..... if this isn't customer service I dont know what is.

THIS IS the picture Joshua sent me below.

Give Joshua Kildahl a raise!!!

Also KUDOS goes out to:

Marie also with
Menards Special Order Center

She is a Guest Services Representative....

Now, we all have had the "traditonal customer service reps" that SAY that they will

look into a customer question... But this lady REALLY did follow through and not

ignore my question, didnt loose my email, and forwarded my email to
Joshua Kildahl.

She replied at least 3 times and didnt loose the train of thought.

She hopefully will get a pat on the back on this one...OR A NICE Christmas bonus!
